Very nice refurbished rooms

By J.P. from Belgium
Feb/24/2010

Overall

The front of the Manhattan Hotel in Tacloban looks not so good, it's located on a busy, noisy and polluted main street. The back of the hotel looks horrible.

But they have very nice refurbished rooms, very clean, singles are very small, so I choosed a double. With hot/cold water.

You can choose between the noisy street (front), or noisy market (back), or the quiet inside without any view.

They have a very noisy airconditioning. The shower is in the middle of the bathroom.

They do have WIFI, but the internet line was not working during my 2-day stay.

NO restaurant, NO breakfast. But there are a lot of fastfoods close to the hotel. There is a very nice Italian restaurant, "Giusppe's Restaurant" just a few blocks further. That restaurant has aircon, is clean, quiet, and has even WIFI.

Feb 2010: I paid 1150 pesos for a renovated double room. A renovated single room costs 750 pesos.

If you prefer more quiet surroundings it might be better to try Alejandro Hotel, it's located in a quiter area, close to the church. It looks very nice from the outside and has good reviews.

Date of Stay: February 2010
Liked: very nice refurbished rooms, very clean rooms, there are a lot of fastfoods close to the hotel
Disliked: located on a busy, noisy and polluted main street; very noisy airconditioning
Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? no.

Nice and affordable

By Jim Eric from Metro Manila, Philippines

Overall

The room is great .. so clean so good .. Its better than sogo here in Manila at a lower price.

Very near to establishments such as Bus Terminals, Jollibee, Mc Donalds and Mercury Drug ..

The food inside the hotel is also good. Be advised that the hotel is outsourcing the food, therefore it has additional 20% in the price from the Menu.

It has no elevator though, so be prepared if got a room on the 4th Floor.

Nearby stores are closed at night time so be prepared for food and water if you got hungry or thirsty. The hotel can provide mineral water for a higher price.

Overall the experince is so great. I will be back to this place ..

Date of Stay: January 2010
Liked: clean rooms, near to other establishments
Disliked: no elevator

The staff was friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect its almost walking distance to shopping mall, fast food and accessible to public transporttation.

What i like most of room is that it's clean and affordable.

Downtown Hotel

By John Raymond from Wisconsin, USA

Overall:

Ahhhh? Back to the Mahanttan. I've stayed here on more than one occassion. It's clean and safe, but right downtown Tacloban. With the morning traffic, you will not sleep in! The buses and jeepneys run past the hotel from 6 am until midnight. We were visiting family, so for a place to drop your bags and get out and about it was fine. The best way to describe it was as cheap, with hot water.

Room was a little dirty with ants, however the staff quickly fixed the issues once notified. A good jumping off point if taking any of the harbor boats or needing to be in Tacloban. Highest priced rooms are 980 peso's, so that's just a little over 20 bucks.

Prices for Single: 625.00 Pesos

Double: 875.00 Pesos

Executive: 1,062.00 Pesos

However they will give you a discount the longer you stay. We were there a week, and they gave us the "Executive Suite" for 850.00 Pesos. They accept all major credit cards.

Reasonably cheap with all amenities

By Brajan from Johor Bahru, MY

Overall:

It is a walk up 3 storey hotel, well maintained, very friendly staff and on top of all this it is so accessible to town area where you can shop for most of the things that you need and lovely pricing, can't beat the price...so cool. It is the best place to stay when you are at Tacloban City.

the longer you stay there the cheaper it can become.....
