This place is so relaxing .. !!

By Enrico Dee from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines

Overall

During my recent trip to Leyte, I made sure that I get to visit the San Rafael Farm in the town of Babatngon.

Rafael Farm and Restaurant in Babatngon, Leyte

The place is so relaxing. Perfect for an intimate lunch or a weekend quiet moment. Our trip to San Rafael Farm is part of the Sudoy ha Leyte tour.

Their dining area (Rafael Farm in Babatngon)

We had our sumptuous lunch in San Rafael Farm. For our lunch we had salad, scallops, barbecued ribs, and kinilaw.

                                 Rafael Farms Salad

Everything's cooked to perfection. The foods were all oozing with so much flavor! I particularly like the kinilaw na tangigue, and the baked scallops with butter and garlic. Ang sarap!

                       Rafael Farms kinilaw na tangigue

The kinilaw is not maasim, unlike the ones I find in most restaurants or mall food court. Instead of using vinegar, The San Rafael Farm kinilaw has calamansi juice, which has just enough sourness. I was so full with all the uberly delicious foods served.

                          Rafael Farms Barbecued Ribs

And right after the feast, it's just perfect to stroll around the farm and breathe fresh air. San Rafael Farm is located in Babatngon, Leyte which is just next after Tacloban.

Liked: Rafael Farm is very relaxing, great food
Disliked: nothing to dislike
Would I recommend this restaurant to my best friend? absolutely!

I'm joyfully in love

The main building (Rafael Farm in Babatngon)

My boyfriend Jules and I went to Tacloban City, a 2-hour drive from where we are, to visit my good pal Sherry. She took us to a place called Rafael's Farm which is located in Barangay Pagsulhugon, Babatngon, Leyte. They open daily from 10 am to 8 pm.

Look at the pretty tables and had made table covers
                            (
Rafael Farm in Babatngon)

When I saw the place, I felt I was in a changed world, living the enchanting life of fairy tale princesses. It was like paradise. I couldn't bring to an end my explorations on the modest things their dining spot has.

Their dining area (Rafael Farm in Babatngon)

The intricate pieces of antique were present all over the place, even to the powder room. They used simple materials yet they made it extraordinary and I have no idea how they put together such a very lovely sanctuary.

Look at the detail of the walls and windows (Rafael Farm)

Okay, I'm joyfully in love with the place. I can't wait to go back. Aside from the beautiful landscapes they formed, their restaurant offers dishes that are remarkably scrumptious and impressive. They grow their own vegetables, and mind you their salads are flavourful too.

I ate Farmer's Salad, Herb-Roasted Chicken, String Potatoes
             and Banana Turon for dessert.
(Rafael Farm)

You have to be there, to actually sit in the old tables and chairs, experience the vintage touch of the place and feast in a very breezy open air area bounded by a fishpond with Japanese koi swimming here and there, overlooking the man-made pond that houses lilies and goose that were just wandering around, to be able to appreciate all I am saying.

Happy faces and happy tummy's (Rafael Farm)

I captured pictures that can somehow charm you to get there. My friend Sherry has also exquisite shots of the place. But everything is in my heart and mind by now.

Sherry and I (Rafael Farm in Babatngon)

I will come what may create my own Rafael's farm one day, not as big, but just as magical as it was. And I will never stop daydreaming about it until I have it in my very eyes.

Liked: Rafael Farm is like pardise, a very lovely sanctuary, beautiful landscapes, very delicious dishes
Disliked: nothing to dislike

Rafael Farm is a MUST SEE when coming to Tacloban/Leyte

By Geenz C. from Washington State, USA

Overall

Pulling up at the gate, you would never guess what would be behind it. It opened up to what seemed like a peaceful, serene escape.

The main building - Rafael Farm in Babatngon ..

The main building had native decor with rich toned wood floors, an infinity pond with koi fish, but with a mixture of contemporary seating and layout.

Infinity pond - Rafael Farm in Babatngon ..

My family went there for lunch and as soon as we saw the menu everything on it looked enticing. We opted out on family style dining and instead ordered separate plates.

The price was great, 220 pesos which is equivalent to $4.78. Each plate came with a salad, side dish, main dish, dessert, and drink.

What I ordered - Rafael Farm in Babatngon ..

I ordered the farmer's salad, green rice, grilled herb chicken, buko gelatin, and lemondgrass tea. They make the tea from scratch, and my recommendation would be the lemongrass tea!

Huts - Rafael Farm in Babatngon ..

Vast property - Rafael Farm in Babatngon ..

After lunch, we walked around the farm since the property was huge. Rafael's farm would be a great place to have a wedding reception or at least get your wedding pictures taken there. If you're in Leyte, that's a MUST place to go to!

Liked: serene and beautiful escape, great food and great prices
Disliked: nothing to dislike
Would I recommend this restaurant to my best friend? absolutely! Rafael Farm in Babatngon is a MUST SEE place in Leyte.

A cozy and romantic place away from the noise and pollution of the city

Overall

Just a short drive away from downtown Tacloban and you will experience a great food with a serene and peaceful ambience.

It has a vine-covered station garden. It is a cozy, romantic place away from the noise and pollution of the city .. It'S always amazing everytime we go there to dine and relax ..

The quality of the food is more than enough to its rate. You can sit and relax while having a sumptous food and enjoy the beautiful sceneries everywhere there ..

They also have a tree house where you can eat and inhale fresh air while overlooking the total scenery of the place .. =)

Liked: serene and peaceful ambience, good for relaxation, beautiful sceneries everywhere

One of the most unique places to spend time in on the planet

By Dieter from Canada

Overall

Whatever the previous reviewer wrote, by Joey Reyna, I only can add very little.
He said it all and very well ......... the farm is unique in so many ways it is hard to describe.

I was walking around the site in wonder and marvelling about the fertile mind that put all together. There are so many tiny beautiful touches, the hands of an artist at work ... and one almost forgets mentioning the quality of the coffee and cakes and food.

Absolutly romantic place and the owner seems to be adding lodging and then the farm will be my number one chioce to spend time in.

My number one place in Tacloban ........

Date of Stay: January 2009
Liked: everything plus
Disliked: nothing to dislike
Would I recommend this restaurant to my best friend? a big YES

So serene .. so beautiful!!

My boyfriend and I decided to eat in Rafael's Farm. I've already heard from my friends that Rafael's Farm serve delicious food! I jokingly asked my mom if they wanted to come with us. Hehe.. And just like that, they all dressed up to come with us! lol

Rafael's Farm is located in Babatngon, Leyte. I had no idea what the place looked like so after a 30-minute drive there, whoa, I was really surprised! It was so serene.. so beautiful! =)

While waiting for our food to be served, we looked around the place. Everywhere I looked, I couldn't help but be awed!

And so the food came, they were indeed yummy! =P It didn't take long for us to finish our food because it was really delicious.

So, after eating we explored the farm even more. My sisters and I climbed their tree house.

Then, we borrowed their boat to canoe in there man-made pond. At first, we didn't know how to make the boat move. We already tried Kayak so we thought that it will be so easy.

But then, the paddle was heavier, and the concept of paddling was a little different. We were all laughing, while my little sister Chloe was already scared that we might fall. Hehe.. Finally, we were able to figure out how to make it move. =)

Liked: such a beautiful place, very yummy food, really delicious
Disliked: nothing to dislike

Rafael Farm is my vote for the best restaurant in Tacloban City

By Anton Diaz, Philippines
Jul/17/2008

Overall

Rafael Farms is a cross between Sonya's Garden in Tagaytay and The Farm @ San Benito. Named after the adopted son (or grandson) of entreprenuer Rene Tampi, Rafael Farms is my vote for the best restaurant in Tacloban City.

A set menu only costs P220 which gives you a choice of salad; a side dish of green rice, potato sticks or sweet corn; a main course of pork, chicken, fish or baby back ribs, dessert and drinks. In Manila, P220 is the average cost of one gourmet dish. Check out the rest of the menu @ Rafael Farms.

You can conveniently visit San Juanico Bridge which is only approx. 20 minutes from the farm.

Inside the main dining area, the ambiance is characterized by crocheted tablecloths, wooden/ garden chairs, seats covered with banig, and artwork-for-sale all around the dining area.

I would also recommend the big servings of Halo Halo ala Rafael Farms for merienda!

Amazing place and very relaxing, a great place to go to

By James from Seattle, USA

Overall

Rafael Farm is northeast out of town a ways.

When ou first arrive, the place seems closed. But, the guard comes and opens the gate for you quickly. There's ample parking.

It's a short walk through the grounds to the restaurant proper. The grounds are amazing. Gazebos litter the place. Different styles, all kinds of plants, decor, etc.

There's a rowing moat. Looks like a man-made moat that one pays P50 to be rowed through. I opted to row myself with the family. It was fun.

The place even has a treehouse you can climb up into. The stairs are a little steep and narrow. But, very, very fun.

Finally, the restaurant itself. Very nice. The food is good. Prices are a little high. But, not at all unexpected given the surroundings.

Very relaxing. Great place to go. Highly recommended.

Liked: amazing grounds, the rowing boat was fun, climbing the treehouse, good food
Disliked: the prices are a little high
Would I recommend this restaurant to my best friend? absolutely, highly recommended!

The Aura of this place is magnificent

By Joey Reyna, Philippines

Overall

I was at the newly opened Rafael Farm yesterday afternoon for a pre-nuptial shoot of Tiny and Melissa who is getting married on April.

I was really stoked of the place. It just got better and better… The aura of the place is magnificent. You just feel at home. The entrance to the restaurant is amazing… It’s now operational and they’re open from 10AM until 8PM daily. Guys I am inviting you to visit the place. They serve coffee and pasta’s at the moment… as well as buffets during lunch.

I having nothing but praises to the vision of Rene and Joel for providing Taclobanon’s a wonderful place to go. The very first in Leyte and Samar. It’s just 20mins from the City.

We stayed till closing and the ambience of the farm at night is priceless. They have a website that can be found at RafaelFarm.com but it’s still under construction at the moment.

Guys, here’s a tip… check out their restrooms… unbelievable concept. Everything is first class. I can even sleep in there… heheheh...

Liked: Clean rooms, very good service.
